CitazioneQuesta intervista lascerebbe presagirlo:
CitazioneFotografia.it: In the future, you think possible to have a larger Foveon (full-frame Foveon)?

Yamaki: (laughs) Many customers ask the same question to us. I cannot comment on it because it’s connected to future products, but in my opinion the crop sensor also has advantages. If you use a lens for full-frame, you can use the best part of the lens, so you can expect a very high quality from center to corner. […] For example, the lenses of the DP cameras have a very good performance from center to corner so you can enjoy the very good image quality from center to corner. When it comes to full-frame, it’s quite challenging to implement a good quality from center to corner, so I think the crop sensor also has advantages.

Fotografia.it: Surely. But full-frame sensor has advantages to control defocus. It’s for high-level photographers. This is really important. So full-frame is requested.

Yamaki: I understand. Also, I like the pictures taken with medium format film, or even 8×10 film. When I saw pictures taken with 8×10 film, I was really amazed and very surprised by the quality. One of my dreams is to create a picture quality like the one taken with 8×10 film. So I understand that a larger sensor has a significant advantage.

Certo, anche io morirei per un sistema Sigma mirrorless-mount... O:-)
Il Foveon non è tutto, però aiuta.
