During my recent visit to Japan, I had a chance to interview Mr. Kazuto Yamaki, Sigma's CEO at his headquarter. My aim in this interview was not to concentrate on a specific Sigma product but rather try and better understand how this industry is functioning, especially that CIPA's statistics is showing some overall decline in lens purchase over the years. I was also interested to know if Sigma has an interest of producing a mirrorless camera that can shoot video as their current line can produce high quality photos but the video side of those cameras is neglected all together (this is a result of the high data volume that the Foveon sensor is producing and has to process)
